An Eye Opener
Silicon Valley is the dream destination for every emerging computer engineer, and Year 2 engineering student Jeff Hu made it there through an internship at Augmedix (US). Jeff had his eyes opened and the experience made him feel "reborn". Engineering student reinvents himself during internship in the Silicon Valley Silicon Valley (SV) has been the mecca of startups for quite some time, and an internship in SV is one of the most sought after positions among university students around the world. HKUST sophomore Jeff Hu, who secured an internship at Augmedix, the largest company collaborating with Google Glass, was among the lucky ones last year, and he soon discovered that the experience was life changing.

Reaching for the Sky
If you’re willing to try you can always get there”, believes 2015 graduate Michelle Lee. Michelle is participating in the history-making project “Inspiration” featuring Hong Kong’s FIRST homebuilt and locally registered aircraft now flying around the world. Learn more about Michelle’s high flying story here. HKUST graduate helps make Hong Kong aviation history Inspiration, Hong Kong’s first homebuilt and locally registered aircraft, made headlines in August when it took off for a three-month around the world tour. Among the crew that made Hong Kong aviation history was HKUST alumna Michelle Lee, who is now part of the aircraft’s ground support team. A 2015 graduate, Michelle grew up watching movies like Top Gun and was always intrigued by the marvels of flight. Drawn to engineering as a high school student, she enrolled as a mechanical engineering major at HKUST, where she studied subjects related to aeronautical engineering.

Getting Wet in the Wild-T&M-DDP Leadership Training Camp
Every summer, Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management (T&M-DDP) holds leadership training camp for all new students to unleash and polish their leadership potential. This year in August, over 50 new Year 1 and Year 2 T&M-DDP students admitted respectively from program-based and school-based admissions joined the leadership training camp at Sai Wan, Sai Kung.

Green is the New Black
At HKUST, we encourage our community to care more about the pressing environmental issues, our student Eco-Reps of Sustainable Campus Leadership Program, Rinaldi Gotama took a gap semester and volunteered as a research assistant for Gunung Palung Orangutan Conservation Project in West Indonesian Borneo. I spent 9 months working as a Business Development Executive in a software product company in Hyderabad, India. My key responsibility was to expand our business into the Greater China Region. We marketed our mobility solutions to IT specialists or CIOs through conference calls.

T&M-DDP Students invented Smart Baby Diet Tracker
Dual Degree Program in Technology and Management (T&M-DDP) students Juliana Ko and Raymond Tam together with Ambi Yuen, MPhil student in Electronic and Computer Engineering, jointly invented a smart baby diet tracker to keep track of baby feeding and won many design and start-up competitions.
