Meet Dr. Melody CHUNG Jin-Teng, a HKUST-nurtured female researcher and entrepreneur whose delivery technology start-up Allegrow Biotech Ltd. (“Allegrow”) is ensuring needy patients can easily access affordable top quality cell therapeutics.

 In the award-winning Shaw Auditorium at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), the atmosphere was charged with anticipation as a magical transformation took place. The stage was set for the university's production of "The Music Man", a famous and family-friendly Broadway musical that brought together the diverse HKUST community like never before on March 23 and 24.

It was during the first wave of COVID in early 2020 when Prof. Tim WOO Kam-Tim and his HKUST Robotics Team students made the bold decision to continue with their explorations. Observing COVID restrictions and regulations, they broke into smaller sub-groups and took turns to work in the lab around the clock. When the Robocon 2020 Hong Kong Contest was finally postponed from June to September 2020, the Robotics Team members had already enjoyed a five-month head start since other teams had been dormant during the peak of the pandemic. Becoming the champion in Hong Kong and the first-runner up in Asia-Pacific at ABU Robocon Festival 2020, the HKUST Robotics Team showed their can-do team spirit once again.

With the help of HKUST’s exciting satellite remote sensing technology and data advances, School of Engineering faculty are seeking more accurate weather forecasts and greater understanding of climate change to enable more effective planning and decision-making by policymakers, companies and individuals.

Leading the way in artificial intelligence (AI) research, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) recently hosted a group of young global leaders to explore the transformative power of AI and its critical role in tackling global challenges. Around 40 influential individuals from the World Economic Forum (Forum)’s Young Global Leaders (YGL) leadership development program gathered at HKUST - the first university in Greater China to host the event.
