香港科技大學（科大）今日（九月一日）舉辦開學嘉年華「Fire Up Your Year」，校長葉玉如教授聯同一眾管理層、教職員和校友，與學生一同獻唱校歌，又大玩互動問答遊戲兼送上豐富禮品，與新生及從各地回來上課的莘莘學子，喜迎新學年。其中，校董會成員兼大學評議會主席曾建中先生更在科大校友攤位前，向同學派發雪糕，在新學年伊始添上一絲甜意。 科大上周五亦為本學年秋季學期迎來了破紀錄的逾550名國際交換生，舉辦了一系列迎新活動和校園導覽，加深他們對科大的認識。這些國際交換生當中，有超過六成同學來自歐洲，其餘分別來自亞洲、美洲和大洋洲的國家或地區。 葉玉如校長於開學日致辭中，熱烈歡迎新一屆加入的同學，並勉勵所有學生、教職員和校友繼續秉持科大「凡事皆可為」的核心價值，勇於探索。她說：「新學年充滿著無限可能，我鼓勵大家抱持好奇心與實幹精神，專注學習之餘，亦走訪校園的不同角落，發掘自己的興趣，體驗非凡的機遇，勇於智闖，並結識能相隨一生的良師摯友。」 葉校長又指，同學在成長過程中難免會遇到挑戰，鼓勵大家把每個障礙視為讓自己成長的機會。她感謝眾多校友專程返回母校，在開學日為新生打氣；她更勉勵同學按自己的步伐成長，科大社群將成為他們堅實的後盾。 主辦開學嘉年華的環球事務及傳訊處和學務長辦公室亦邀請了一眾科大同學，呈獻無伴奏合唱及跳舞表演，並於校園設置攤位，與眾同樂。

香港科技大學（科大）本科招生及入學事務處舉辦的 Polymath 主題暑期訓練營圓滿落幕，吸引來自13個國家及地區逾150名中學生參與。參與的學生不僅參加了由科大教授主持的課堂講座、研究展示與實驗室參觀，更透過「專題項目研習」（Capstone Project），為科大合作夥伴包括海洋公園公司、香港數碼港及宏碁電腦（Acer）提出的現實挑戰設計創新解決方案。此訓練營不僅提升了學生的學術能力，還激發了他們跨學科的創新思維。

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) has received a record of nearly 20,000 non-local undergraduate (UG) applications for the 2025/26 academic year, competing for approximately 800 places. This represents a remarkable 40% year-on-year increase in applications from international students, with candidates from more than 85 countries and regions, including Germany, France, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, the UAE, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, and Uzbekistan.

香港科技大學（科大）今年透過「學生運動員學習支援及入學計劃」（SALSA）計劃，取錄了超過11名傑出香港運動員，人數創歷年來最高。科大今日舉辦歡迎典禮，特別邀請到一眾傑出學生運動員新生、香港體育學院代表、運動員的教練、中學校長、老師及家人等出席，一同慶祝各精英運動員即將展開人生新一頁，並祝願他們在學業和運動上的發展都能再創高峰。 11名傑出運動員將於今年九月入讀科大，涵蓋桌球、劍擊、賽艇、棒球、花樣滑冰、拯溺、帆船和田徑等項目，當中包括： 賽艇運動員 林新棟 工商管理學課程

HKUST Connect and the Hong Kong Yacht & Start-Up Association (HKYSUA) join forces on this innovative program, which transforms a yacht into a dynamic training platform, enabling students to experience sailing, plan social service activities, and develop lifelong skills. 

The saying that “Happy classes make happy students” is not taken lightly by Prof. Kenneth LEUNG Wai-Ting, Assistant Professor of Engineering Education at HKUST’s School of Engineering. A three-time recipient of the Common Core Teaching Excellence Award, Prof. Leung is a believer in the transformative power of education that engages learners.

The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (Guangzhou) (HKUST(GZ)) jointly launched the "Redbird Cross Campus Study Program" today.  The program will promote resource sharing and synergy between the two campuses under the “Unified HKUST, Complementary Campuses” framework, through mechanisms including course sharing, credit transfer and student exchanges in academics, research and social activities.
