Dream High, Fly Even Higher
When you think big, you achieve even bigger success. Little wonder then, that HKUST has just been crowned the world’s best young university in a new THE ranking.
For the first time, we have reached the top of the rankings that include only universities under 50 years old.
Acting President of HKUST, Prof Wei Shyy says the recognition results from a clear positioning of the research spectrums encompassing artificial intelligence, data science, life science, public policy and sustainability, among others. This allows us, despite limited manpower and resources, to produce a high volume of research with major impact, in the likes of Alzheimer’s disease and HIV.
HKUST was praised for excellence in teaching, research, citation impact and international outlook. "We have been steering our curriculum towards a multidisciplinary, highly individualised and student-driven direction over the past decade”, says Shyy.
