HKUST Students Explore Sustainable Future at Asian Universities Alliance Youth Forum
3 Student representatives from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) recently participated in the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Youth Forum 2023, hosted by the United Arab Emirates University from March 12-18.
Under the theme “Uniting for a Sustainable Future: Asian Youth in Action,” the forum gathered 43 students from 12 leading universities across Asia. Through interactive workshops, speeches and discussions, participants gained a deeper understanding of the various sustainability issues affecting the region.
HKUST students also had the chance to interact and exchange with students from diverse backgrounds and experienced the vibrancy of Asian cultures firsthand during the forum.
As a pioneering global university, HKUST is committed to empowering the next generation of change-makers who will chart the course for a sustainable future.

HKUST and PhIRDA Establish Innovation and Research Platforms to Propel Pharmaceutical Innovation and Development in Greater Bay Area
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the China Pharmaceutical Innovation and Research Development Association (PhIRDA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) today to establish two innovation and research centers. The collaboration aims to enhance Hong Kong’s pharmaceutical innovation and commercialization capabilities, as well as making wider contributions to pharmaceutical innovation and development in the Greater Bay Area and beyond.
A delegation of PhIRDA members, comprising of representatives from over 20 well-known pharmaceutical companies including Fosun Pharma, Shanghai Pharmaceuticals, RemeGen, Ascentage Pharma, visited HKUST to learn about the University’s latest research outcomes in the area of life and health sciences.

HKUST and Wuxi EDZ to Establish Wuxi-Hong Kong Collaborative Innovation Center to Promote Innovation and Technology
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) and the Wuxi Economic Development Zone (Wuxi EDZ) have signed an agreement to deepen exchanges and collaboration on areas spanning innovation, entrepreneurship, talent training and policy research.
Witnessed by HKUST President Prof. Nancy IP, Secretary of Wuxi Municipal Party Committee Mr. DU Xiaogang and other representatives from both sides, Prof. Tim CHENG, HKUST Vice-President (Research and Development), and Mr. YANG Jianping, Secretary of CPC Working Committee and Director of Management Committee of Wuxi EDZ, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).

HKUST Delegation Visits Vietnam to Forge New Partnerships
A delegation from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), led by Vice President for Institutional Advancement Prof. WANG Yang, recently visited Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam to promote learning and research opportunities at HKUST.
The delegation met with several senior government officials including the Minister of Planning and Investment Mr. Nguyen Chi Dung, Minister of Science and Technology Mr. Huynh Thanh Dat, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Mr. Phan Van Mai, Consul General of China in Ho Chi Minh City Mr. Wei Huaxiang, as well as university leaders at the Vietnam National University (Hanoi), Vietnam National University (Ho Chi Minh City), Hanoi University of Science and Technology, and others to explore potential collaborations in areas like artificial intelligence, smart cities, and digital economy.

HKUST Joins Forces with Cornell University to Advance Research and Education
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) signed the ‘HKUST-Cornell Cooperation Agreement’ with Cornell University to collaborate on teaching, training, and cutting-edge research on February 9.
Leveraging the expertise of both universities, the two forward-thinking partners will work together to explore new opportunities for joint activities and strengthen academic exchange and research collaborations across disciplines. Highlighting the common goals to address global issues, " There are many big areas we can collaborate on, such as sustainability, new energy and aging society." said HKUST Provost Prof. GUO Yike.
