HKUST Hosts Women in Innovation Forum “Challenges vs Chances” to Celebrate International Women’s Day
As a university that strives to groom students’ individuality and holistic development through gender parity and diversity, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) launched a series of events under the theme #itsME in celebration of the International Women’s Day, leveraging the opportunity to reinforce the message that gender should not be a hindrance factor for one’s development. A highlight of the events held today was the Women in Innovation Forum.  Entitled “Challenges vs Chances”, entrepreneurs, leaders from business, technology and education as well as students discussed topics spanning gender stereotypes in the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM), the qualities required of women to thrive in a male-dominated environment, and challenges women face in STEM and business fields.

HKUST Presents Long Service Awards 2018
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) held its annual Long Service Award Presentation Ceremony to honor faculty and staff members who have served the University for 20 years. HKUST established the Long Service Award to express appreciation and recognition to long-serving faculty and staff members whose dedication and hard work have contributed to the University’s rapid rise over the past 27 years.  This year, HKUST presented awards to 25 colleagues with 20 years of service at University. HKUST President Prof Tony F Chan, together with the vice-presidents joined the presentation ceremony.  The awardees’ families and friends were also invited by the University to attend the event and share the happiness of the celebration.

HKUST Honors Outstanding Non-academic Staff Members
The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) today presented its fourth “HKUST President’s Outstanding Service Award” to laud and recognize dedicated non-academic staff members for their outstanding contributions and exemplary performance. The four award recipients are Mr Ho Shun-sing, Chief Security Officer of the Facilities Management Office; Prof Joseph Kwan Kai-cho, Director of Health, Safety and Environment; Ms Patricia Lai Suk-ching, Assistant Director (UG Affairs Administration) of the Office of the Dean of Engineering; and Mr Doug Wong Chung Tak, Computer Officer of the Information Technology Services Center.
